Have you ever heard the expression "there's no such thing as a free lunch?" Well that may be true, but there is such a thing as a free movie… every week in downtown San Antonio! This year, every Thursday night in San Antonio from June 3, 2010 until September 30, 2010, a movie was played outside in Hemisfair Park. That means Trinity students have the opportunity to see four free movies at the beginning of the school year. This year, I went to see Funny Girl on the 30th. A large projection screen is set up on the side of a building and people take chairs, blankets and pillows to sit on the grass and watch the movie! Movie snacks such as popcorn, drinks and cotton candy are also available. The events begin at 7:30 with a different presentation each week. Then, the movie starts at 8:30. Free parking is available after 6:00 p.m. in the Durango Parking Lot across the street from the Federal Courthouse. Many college students have a hard time finding entertainment because of how expensive things are these days. This is a great way to go out, relax, enjoy San Antonio and get a break from homework without spending a lot of money!
