I’m sure you have heard of the “river walk” in downtown San Antonio. The majority of Trinity students have probably been there at least once. It is one of the most well known tourist attractions in San Antonio. The river walk is home to various restaurants, candy stores, souvenir shops and various venders and kiosks selling the many different cultural arts that are seen all around San Antonio. During move in days it is not uncommon to see college students and their families frequenting the many attractions at the river walk. What many new students do not know, is that there is a whole downtown life that coexists with the river walk. In addition to the river walk, there are historic residential neighborhoods downtown, beautiful hotels, great food, great jobs and great fun!
There are around 65 hotels in the downtown area including the historic Menger Hotel, the Emily Morgan Hotel and the Marriot Riverwalk hotel. The various hotels present downtown San Antonio with some of its proudest architecture.

Downtown San Antonio provides a unique and enjoyable shopping experience. With the combination of indoor malls, flea markets, sports stores, gift shops, boutiques and outdoor shops, shoppers will find almost anything they can think of in one concentrated area!
Working downtown would provide a Trinity student with numerable and invaluable opportunities. San Antonio has a variety of jobs available in restaurants, movie theaters, retail shops, offices and much more. Working downtown will provide good money and also an opportunity for students to get to know San Antonio natives and learn more about everyday San Antonio life.

In addition to staying, shopping and working in downtown San Antonio, it is also a great place to play! Art shows, plays and theatrical presentations, classic films and an exciting night life are normal occurrences in downtown San Antonio. A few popular bars and clubs downtown are Club Cohiba, Bonham Exchange, Coyote Ugly and TKO’s Round 2 Sports Bar. In addition many restaurants are open late on the river walk and contribute to the fun, energetic atmosphere.

Definitely one of the biggest raves in downtown San Antonio, and much of San Antonio for that matter, is the food. There are hundreds of amazing restaurants in downtown San Antonio. From barbeque to Greek food, downtown San Antonio literally has it all. One of the most common types of restaurants frequented in San Antonio, especially downtown, are the Tex-Mex establishments that combine the best Mexican foods with a little Texas twist. You probably will not be able to drive for more than a couple minutes in downtown without finding a delicious-looking restaurant!

I certainly hope every Trinity student gets a chance to explore and enjoy one of the greatest downtown areas in the country! If you are looking for more information on events, activities and/or general information on downtown, I would recommend checking out http://downtownsanantonio.org/!
